Sue Hoskins Lewis

October 14, 1964 — May 19, 2015

Sue Hoskins Lewis, 50, returned to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 after a valiant battle with heart disease. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

Sue was born to the late Cloyd and Irene Adams Hoskins, a Civil Engineer and a homemaker respectively, in Clay County, Kentucky on October 14, 1964.

Sue enjoyed the lake, canning, cooking, sewing, music, and taking pictures with her friends and family. She found great enjoyment in being involved in activities, plays, and singing in the choir at the Laurel Creek Church of God Worship Center. She loved to dance and to fellowship with friends and family. Sue was also an advocate and champion for those with special needs through her work with the Laurel Springs Assisted Living Facility. Her greatest passion, however, was her calling toward the medical field. Sue served others throughout her entire life as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and later, as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), as long as her health allowed. After being diagnosed with severe heart disease, and undergoing several surgeries, including L-VAD placement and a heart transplant; she reached out to an innumerable amount of persons and families enduring similar situations. With every phone call, Facebook message, hospital visit, and/or text message, she offered advice, peace, and constant encouragement. She considered this to be her calling, purpose, and ministry.

Sue was blessed with a large and loving family. Surviving her is her beloved son, Joshua Caudill and his fiancé Erin Betters of London, Ky; and her sisters, Brenda (Paul) Bishop of Laurel Creek and Kim Hoskins Pell of London. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews who will undoubtedly always celebrate her life’s work and remember her with fondness.

Sue also leaves behind a very special great-niece, Sidney Drew Wolfe, great nephew Aiden Samuel Richard Jackson, and a great-great niece Skylar MiKenna White, all of which were the apples of her eye. She also had a special place in her heart for her restaurant family at CB’s Roadhouse Grill. Sue was blessed with several friends who will cherish her memory.

In death, Sue has been reunited with her cherished twin sister, Anne Hoskins Parks; her brothers, Bill Wells and Don Hoskins; and her parents, Cloyd Hoskins and Irene Adams Hoskins.

To adhere to Sue’s wishes, a Celebration of Life service will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the Laurel Creek Church of God Worship Center. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM at the church until the Celebration of Life service.

Her ashes will be spread across Lake Cumberland, her most favorite place in the world. The family is grateful for any and all condolences, and would ask that in honor of Sue, all would opt to become organ donors by simply signing the back of his/her driver’s license.
