Preacher Charles Ernest "Charlie" Martin

Preacher Charles Ernest “Charlie” Martin, age 87 went to his heavenly home on Monday, October 7, 2024 at his home. He was born on Saturday, April 24, 1937 in Manchester, Kentucky to Leonard and Lucy Turner Martin. He was a devoted man of God where he retired as pastor and member of the Morgan Branch Baptist Church, was a retired Coal Miner and served in the United States Army.

He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife: Hettie Estep Martin, his sons: Mitchell Martin and James “Jimmy” Martin as well as 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Leonard and Lucy Martin, his son: Jeffrey Martin and his siblings: Olzie Bowling, Naomi Mills, Marie Whitehead, Doris Cottongim, Mabel Brumley, Evelyn Davidson, Paul Martin, Pleaz Martin, Tom Martin and Leonard “Jeep” Martin, Jr.

Funeral Services for Preacher Charles Ernest “Charlie” Martin will be conducted on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 12 PM at the Morgan Branch Baptist Church. Rev. Scotty Jewell will be presiding. Burial will follow in the Stiver-Baker Cemetery behind the Island Creek Missionary Baptist Church in the Island Creek Community.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 6 PM until 9 PM on Thursday at the Morgan Branch Baptist Church.
