Mr. Willie P. Brown, age 85 of House Branch Road in Manchester, passed away Thursday, August 6th, 2009 at the St. Joseph Hospital in London, Kentucky. He was born May 5th, 1924 in Clay County, Kentucky to the union of Walter Brown, Sr. & Sophia Lewis Brown. He was a coal miner, a farmer, & a member of the Zion Baptist Church. He is a veteran of World War II where he was a Prisoner of War & received the Purple Heart while serving in the United States Army.

He is survived by the following children: Carolyn Hibbard & husband Jerry of Manchester, Alpha Jean Jackson & husband Kerry of Milan, Ohio, Clifton Brown of Hooker, Sharon Allen & husband Carl of Hooker, Sheila Thomas & husband Mike of Island Creek, Willa Dean Brown of House Branch & Tammy Sue Lewis of House Branch. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, & these sisters & brother: Georgia Bundy of London, Mary Pennington of Ohio, Betty Barnes of Ohio, Marge Whitaker of Ohio, Nellie Root of Ohio, & Beve Brown of Ohio.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Walter Brown, Sr. & Sophia Lewis Brown, his wife: Irene Brown, his daughter: Peggy Smith, & his sisters: Edith Keaton & Alpha Jean Brown.

Funeral Services for Mr. Willie P. Brown will be Monday, August 10th, 2009 at 1 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Riley Parker & Rev. Steve Crumpler will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery in the Hooker Community.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 9th, after 6 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.

Rominger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
