Mr. Willie “Bill” Abner, age 83 of Manchester departed this life on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Saint Joseph Hospital in London, Kentucky. He was born on Monday, August 3, 1931 in Clay County, Kentucky to the union of George and Chelsie Hooker Abner. He worked for the Kentucky Department of Highways, carpentry, and Etowah Manufacturing, and he also was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Horse Creek Baptist Church.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife: Ollie Miller Abner, his sons: David Abner and his wife Mary Ann of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Bill Abner and his wife Rhonda of London, Kentucky, and Darrell Kenner of Lexington, Kentucky. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Ryan Abner, Maggie Abner, and Becky Abner Osborne and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents: George and Chelsie Abner, and his brothers and sisters: Edna Whitehead, John A. Abner, Ernest “Hawk” Abner, Elbert “Monk” Abner, and Cleo Abner.
The family requests no flowers please. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer Association or Gideons International.
Funeral Services for Mr. Willie “Bill” Abner will be conducted on Tuesday, June 9, at 2 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Kenneth Felty, Rev. Anthony Lovett, and David Abner will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Manchester Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be on Tuesday after 1 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
