Mrs. Virgie Cowans

Mrs. Virgie Cowans, age 93 of Sextons Creek departed this life on Thursday, May 19, 2016. She was born on Sunday, October 22, 1922 in Manchester to the union of Frank and Addie King Hicks. She was a retired cook at the Burning Springs Elementary School and was a member of the Ell's Branch Baptist Church.

She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter: Susan Rice, her grandchildren: Kay Mills and her husband Darrell, Kim Keister, and Bill Rice and his wife BobBie Jo, her great grandchildren: J. D. Mills, Morgan Mills, Blake Mills, Paige Keister, Rebecca Keister, Chase Keister, and Brody Rice. Also surviving are 2 great great grandchildren: Paisley and Tate and her brother: Alfred Hicks of Holiday, Florida as well as her extended family: Elbert and Helen Hubbard's Family.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Addie Hicks, her husband: Pearl, her son-in-law: James Rice and 8 brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Virgie Cowans will be conducted on Sunday, May 22 at 2 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. J. C. Stevens, Rev. Darrell Hays, and Rev. Eldon Browning will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Ball Cemetery in the Chestnutsburg Community.

Visitation will be held on Sunday after 12 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
