Mrs. Shirley Minton Jones

Mrs. Shirley Minton Jones, age 62 of Manchester passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky. She was born September 13, 1949 in Clay County, Kentucky to the union of Oakley and Dora Hooker Minton. She was a nurse and a member of the Swafford Branch Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband: Vernon Jones of Manchester, her daughter: Shannon Cheek and her husband Darrell of Manchester, her grandchildren: Cameron Cheek, Caden Cheek, and Darrell Wayne Cheek, Jr., and these brothers and sisters: Lucy Brumley of Manchester, Roy Minton of Manchester, Elmer Minton of Manchester, John Thomas Minton of Manchester, Herbert “Tip” Minton of Manchester, Harlan Minton of Richmond, Larry Minton of Manchester, and Floyd Minton of Manchester.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Oakley and Dora Minton, her brother: Shade Minton, and her sisters: Rosetta Ruth, Alpha Goins, and Hazel Sizemore.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Shirley Minton Jones will be conducted on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 1 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Herbert “Tip” Minton and Rev. George David Blair will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Hooker Cemetery in the Blue Hole Community.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 1, after 6 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
