Mrs. Nettie Bowling

Mrs. Nettie Bowling, age 87 of Big Creek, passed away Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010 at the Hyden Nursing Home in Hyden, Kentucky. She was born September 6th, 1922 in Leslie County, Kentucky to the union of Jim and Peggy Gay Woods. She was a retired cook and lunch room manager at the Big Creek Elementary School and she was a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters: Yvonne Clark and Kenneth of London, and Rita Whitis and Bob of Manchester. Also surviving is her daughter-in-law: Pamela Shell Bowling, these grandchildren: Rita Dyas and Toby of Arizona, Ruth Ann Johnson and Donnie of Richmond, Kentucky, Danny Lester Clark and Cheryl Lewis of Hyden, Renee Whitis Marcum and Robert of Manchester, Amy Whitis Sams and Ben of London, Linda Bowling Gibbons and Dallas of Big Creek and Steven Woods of Manchester. Also surviving are 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren and these brothers and sisters: Oda Bowling, Lila Ruth Keen, Linda Ethel Banks, and Rev. Dennis Woods.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Jim and Peggy Woods, her husband: Elmer Bowling, her son: J. O. Bowling, her brother: Felix Woods, and these sisters: Mabel Keen, Edith Asher, and Hattie Jones.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Macedonia Baptist Teen Kids Building Fund or to The Gideons International.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Nettie Bowling will be Saturday, March 6th, 2010 at 12 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rollin Bradshaw and Rev. Charlie Goodman will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Manchester Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be Friday, March 5th, after 6 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
