Mrs. Irene B. Thomas

Irene Brown Thomas of Manchester, KY, passed away suddenly Saturday December 3, 2011 at LaFollette Medical Center at the age of 82. She was born near Corbin, KY on April 28, 1929. She was a member of the Manchester Baptist Church and was a registered nurse in Clay County for many years, working at the Clay County Health Department and the Board of Education. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Leo Thomas and her parents Millard and Emily Barnhill Brown. She is survived by the following family: sister Ruby Webb of Louisville, KY; brother Willard Brown of Manchester, KY; brother Millard (Buster) Brown of London, KY; daughter Carol Thomas Heath and her husband Tony of Jacksboro, TN; son Chuck Thomas and wife Lisa of Greenbriar, KY; son Bill Thomas and Yvonne Bowling of Greenbriar, KY. She is survived by her grandchildren: Jenny Heath Cheatham, Ben Heath, Ryan Davidson, Clay Bowling, Deron Maxey, and her great grandchild: Sarah Cheatham. She was known as Nana to her grandchildren, great-granddaughter, Sarah, and a host of nieces and nephew.

The family will receive friends from 11 AM until 1 PM Tuesday December 6 at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at the Manchester Memorial Gardens. Rev. Ken Bolin will be officiating.
