Mr. Shirley Homer “Burb” Gregory, age 87, of Manchester departed this life Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard, Ky. He was born August 12, 1927 in Clay County, Kentucky to the union of Howard and Dovie (Hibbard) Gregory. He was an owner and operator in the coal business, a member of the Horse Creek Baptist Church and a Korean War veteran in the United States Army.
He leaves to mourn his passing his children: Dixie Dietrich and husband Bob, Latrelle Rogers and their mother Alpha Stancil, Shirlyn Hoskins and husband Leonard and Beth White and husband Joe; these step-children: Paul David Baker, Brenda Wagers and Peggy Baker Chamberlain; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Burb was a loving grandfather/father to his grandson, Texas Dwayne Hoskins. Also, surviving is his special nephew Phillip Gregory who assisted Burb for many years being his friend, his driver to different functions, and his caretaker. Burb loved Phillip with all his heart and depended on him for everything.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Howard and Dovie Gregory; his daughter: Shannon Michelle Gregory Hoskins; and these brothers and sisters: his twin brother, Billy Gregory, Lola “Ted” Gregory, Lucy Gregory, Lena Enderle, Edward Gregory, Luther “D.Y.” Gregory, Hugh Gregory and Frank Thomas Gregory.

Funeral services for Mr. Shirley Homer “Burb” Gregory will be held Monday, February 9, 2015 at 2:00 P. M. at the Horse Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Anthony Lovett and Rev. Jim Gregory will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Gregory Cemetery in the Hima Community. Visitation will be Monday, February 9, 2015 after 12:00 P. M. at the Horse Creek Baptist Church until funeral time at 2:00 P. M.
