Mrs. Doris Cottongim, age 78 of Manchester, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the Manchester Memorial Hospital. She was born January 11, 1934 in Clay County, Kentucky to the union of Leonard and Lucy Turner Martin. She was a member of the Bethany Bible Church.
She is survived by her children: Johnny Dean Lawson of Corbin, Kentucky, Jimmy Don Lawson of Manchester, and Bobby Joe Lawson of Florence, Kentucky. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren: Mary Jo Fisher, Serena Patterson, Emma Leigh Lawson, Jesse Lawson, and Kimberly Thompson, 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, her brother: Charlie Martin of Manchester, and her sister: Marie Whitehead of London.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Leonard and Lucy Martin, her 1st husband: John C. Lawson, her 2nd husband: Charles Cottongim, and her brothers and sisters: Naomi Mills, Olsie Bowling, Pleaz Martin, Tom Martin, Paul Martin, Leonard Martin, Jr., and Evelyn Vangundy. She is also preceded in death by her great grandson: Timothy Patterson, her daughter: Linda Sue Lawson and her son: Charles Freddy Lawson.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Doris Cottongim will be on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 1 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Charlie Martin and Rev. Gordon Martin will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Baker Cemetery in the Island Creek Community.
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 4, from 6 PM until 9 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
