Mrs. Dora Mathis, 81 of Burning Springs, passed away Sunday, November 21st, 2010 at the University Of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born April 11th, 1929 in Clay County, Kentucky to the union of Taylor and Minnie Bray Sandlin. She was a homemaker and a member of the Morgan Branch Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children: Jim Mathis and his wife Betty of Burning Springs, Pat Hacker Roof and her husband Don of Hernando, Florida, Lorene Day and Lannie Hacker of London, Kentucky, Rick Mathis and his wife Rosie of Burning Springs, Phil Mathis of Burning Springs, and David Mathis and his wife Connie of Burning Springs. Also surviving are 17 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Taylor and Minnie Sandlin, her husband: Luther Mathis, her sons: Stanley and Ernest Mathis, her daughter: Velma Jean Combs, and her brothers: Fred Sandlin, JN Sandlin, Ford Sandlin, William Sandlin, and Della Sandlin.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Clay County Cancer Coalition c/o Sharon Carnahan at the PNC Bank in the Greenbriar Community.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Dora Mathis will be Wednesday, November 24th, 2010 at 2 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Brian Gabbard and Rev. Harold Hayes will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Manchester Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Luke Mathis, Lonnie Hacker, Jr., Josh Mathis, Patrick Mathis, Taylor Mathis, Matt Mathis, and Dillon Hacker.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 23rd, after 6 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
Rominger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
