Mr. Lester Day

Mr. Lester Day, age 90 of Manchester, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was born March 11, 1922 in Clay County, Kentucky to the union of John Day and Mavery Lunsford Day. He was a farmer and worked at the Clay County Vocational School and a member of the Laurel Creek Free Pentecostal Church.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years and 4 months, Goldie Hensley Day. Lester and Goldie were married July 14, 1941. They have served the Lord together since March 16 and 18 of 1946. He preached God’s word for many years.

Also surviving are 6 sons: Burchell Day and his wife Geraldine, Lewis Day and his wife Emma, Willie Day, Donald Day and his wife: Rosamond, Paul Day and his wife Karen and Dale Day and Amy, 2 daughters: Thelma Jewell and her husband Bruce, and Norma Reis and her husband: Dan, his sister: Sylvia Alsip, his granddaughter: Cyndi Reis Elder who spend a lot of time with her grandpa, these grandchildren survive: Bobby Day, Robert Day, Gary Day, Heather Murray, Amber Day, Alex Day, McKenzie Day, Ryan Day, Nathan Day, Jason Jewell, Donna Massey, Jonathan Reis, and Danielle Reis, 12 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents: John and Mavery Day, these brothers and sisters: Jessie Collins, Mendal Day, Alonzo Day, Jimmy Day, Lawrence Day, Nola Hensley, Ersley Eleton, Alice Eleton, and Sarah Melton.

Funeral Services for Mr. Lester Day will be on Tuesday, November 27, at 2 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. George Roberts, Rev. Teddy Collett, Rev. Buster Mathis, and Rev. Richard Sams will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Day Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, November 26 after 6 PM and on Tuesday from 10 AM until funeral time at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.

Rominger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
