Julius Hacker, age 82, of Sunrise, FL passed away unexpectedly Sunday, September 16, 2012 at the Westside Regional Medical Center in Plantation, FL. He was born August 10, 1930 in Manchester, KY to Frank and Della (Hollen) Hacker. After graduation from Clay County High School in 1949, he served our country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Shortly after an honorable discharge in 1953, he moved to Hamilton, OH and started a lifelong career at the Champion Paper Company, holding a variety of supervisory positions for over 40+ years. He retired from Champion in 1995. In 1958 Julius married Wanda E. Allen, and they remained together for 45 years until her death in 2003. Julius had a strong Faith, a great love of family, and enjoyed spending time together with family making music, fishing, boating, and playing golf. He was also a long time member of Kiwanis International, and the Boy Scouts of America. After retirement, Julius and Wanda spent time in both Ohio and Florida, becoming permanent Florida residents in 2002. After Wanda’s death, Julius married Laura Remington in 2005, who remained devoted to him until his death. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wanda, and five (5) brothers. Julius is survived by his wife Laura Hacker of Sunrise, FL; children, Deanna (Clifford) Penn of New Richmond, OH, Janet Lynn Hacker of Corbin, KY, Gerald Lee Hacker of Corbin, KY, Frank (Dawn) Hacker of Plymouth, WI; step-daughter, Margo Remington of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren, Eric, Julie, Desiree', Joseph, April Dawn, Joel, Rachael, and Noah; great grandchildren, Skylar, Adam, Caleb, Alexis, Elizabeth, Jameson; sister and brother, Vivian Langdon and Arnold (Virginia) Hacker, both of Hamilton, OH.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel in Manchester, KY, followed by a graveside service and burial at the Hacker Cemetery, also in Manchester.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 6:00-9:00 pm at the Rominger Funeral Home.
