Mr. James Brown, age 74 of Hima, passed away Tuesday, December 11, at the U. K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born February 2, 1938 in Clay County, Kentucky to the union of Rowland and Thelma Curry Brown. He was a coal miner and a member of the Horse Creek Holiness Church.
He is survived by his wife: Carol Brown of Hima, his daughters: Tonya Gray and her husband Stanley of Manchester, and Rhonda Robinson and her husband: Shannon of Manchester, these grandchildren: Bentley Robinson, Shannon Nicole Robinson, Joey Dezarn, James Richard Gray, Eshia Dezarn, and Kiara Robinson, his great grandson: Brantley John Dezarn and his brothers and sisters: Mary Hinkle of Manchester, Jessie Brown of Manchester, and Georgia Hazelwood of Manchester.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Rowland and Thelma Brown, his daughter: Sonya Brown Dezarn, 2 brothers: Kenneth Brown and Johnny Brown and 2 sisters: Ima Jean Smith and Janice Brown.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Gideon’s International or the Clay County Cancer Coalition.
Funeral Services for Mr. James Brown will be on Saturday, December 15 at 2 PM at the Horse Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Terry Reed, Rev. Anthony Lovett, and Rev. Randy Bingham will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Ed “Penner” Gregory and White Cemetery in the Hima Community.
Visitation will be Friday, December 14, after 6 PM at the Horse Creek Baptist Church.
