Mr. George Edward Parsons, age 91 departed this life on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Hazard Area Regional Medical Center in Hazard, Kentucky. He was born on Tuesday, July 31, 1923 to the union of Eugene Homer and Alfreda David Parsons. He was a member of the Mill Creek United Methodist Church, a veteran of the United States Army where he served in the Korean Conflict, was active in the Dewall Senior Citizen’s Center at the Red Bird Mission and retired from the Troches Parson Merchant Marines.

He leaves to mourn his passing these nieces and nephews: Steve Taylor and his wife Judith of Erie, PA, Deborah Ferency and her husband Richard of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Donna Ashley of Oviedo, Florida, Nancy Dolen and her husband Alf of Cooper City, Florida, and 2 great nieces and 4 great nephews. Also surviving are his special friends: Otto and Bobby Messer, Patricia Messer, Norma Messer, Lucy Ferrell, and his Mill Creek United Methodist Church Family.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister: Barbara Parson Taylor and his wife: Louisa.

Funeral Services for Mr. George Edward Parsons will be conducted on Wednesday, September 10 at 1 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Robert Gross and Rev. John William “Bill” Culton will be officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in the Jefferson Memorial Gardens in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11 AM until funeral time at 1 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Rominger Funeral Home.
