Mr. Freddy Clinton Johnson

January 8, 1939 — January 27, 2016

Freddy Clinton Johnson, age 77, of Burning Springs, passed away peacefully at the Laurel Creek Nursing Home on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 after a valiant battle with cancer.

Clinton was born to the union of James Ellis and Eunice Keith Johnson on Sunday, January 8, 1939. Clinton was the owner of Johnson's Service Station, a business he opened with his father in the spring of 1964 and later operated alongside his two sons. He was a dedicated civil servant, proudly serving the people of the Burning Springs, Fogertown, Sexton Creek and Pin Hook communities as a Magistrate of the Clay County Fiscal Court. He was also a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church and a dual member of both the Robert Clark Masonic Lodge #646 and Clay Masonic Lodge #798.

Clinton enjoyed serving his customers and the people of his district, and enjoyed his hobbies of the great outdoors, but his greatest joy in life came from his family. He leaves his loving and devoted wife of fifty-seven years, Jo Ann Rader Johnson. He also leaves behind two children: his daughter, Debbie Hoskins, and her husband Marvin as well as his son, Johnny Johnson, and his wife Mechelle, all from the Burning Springs community.

Also surviving are his grandchildren, who will forever celebrate his life well-lived: Leann Hoskins Burchfield and her husband Steve, Jonathan Johnson and his wife Jessica, Chelsie Johnson Wolfe and her husband Kevin, Courtney Johnson, and Adam Hoskins. Two great-grandchildren also survive, Kyle Bowling and Sidney Wolfe, as well as two step-great-grandchildren: Kayla Burchfield and Joshua Burchfield.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Homer Jennings Johnson, who he has long since looked forward to being reunited with. He was also preceded in death by his parents Ellis and Eunice Johnson, his brother Ralph Jennings Johnson, and his father and mother-in-law, Homer and Lizzie Lewis Rader.

Funeral services will be held for Mr. Freddy Clinton Johnson on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 3:00 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from Noon until the time of service. Rev. Charlie Goodman and Rev. Kenneth Felty will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Manchester Memorial Gardens.

Memorial donations may be made to the Clay County Cancer Coalition or the Laurel Creek Nursing Home, as they were of great comfort to the family during such a difficult time.
