Mr. Elmer “Blue” Hensley, age 86 of Wayne Street in Manchester, passed away Wednesday, March 10th, 2010 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born September 22nd, 1923 in Clay County, Kentucky to the union of Joney and Otha Davidson Hensley. He was a member of the Manchester Baptist Church, a retired parts manager for the Ford Motor Company, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7606, and a highly decorated Veteran of World War II where he served in the 45th Infantry Division of the United States Army.
He is survived by the following children: David Hensley and Rita of London, Barbara Fields and Donnie of Manchester, Larry “Blue” Hensley and Cookie of Manchester, Jeannie George and Doug of London, and Donna White and Doug of Manchester. Also surviving are the following grandchildren: Neil Hensley of Mt. Sterling, Ashley Hensley of London, Courtney Sizemore of Manchester, Travis Fields of Manchester, Tyler George of London, Taylor White of Manchester, and Tori White of Manchester. Also surviving are 7 great grandchildren and these brothers and sisters: Marge Renner, Janet Sawyers, Zelma Hurd, Jonah Hensley, Logan Hensley, and Sam Hensley all of Ohio, Anice Greer and Mae Martin of Florida, Joe Hensley of Atlanta, Georgia, Bonnie Hendrix of Tennessee, and Jim Hensley of Northern Kentucky.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Joney and Otha Hensley and his wife: Gertrude Hensley.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Manchester Baptist Church.
Funeral Services for Mr. Elmer “Blue” Hensley will be Friday, March 12th, 2010 at 2 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ken Bolin, Rev. Travis Fields, and Sam Grigsby will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Manchester Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 11th, after 6 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
