Mr. Carl Hibbard

Mr. Carl Hibbard, age 88 of Hima, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012 at his home. He was born on Friday, December 7, 1923 in Clay County, Kentucky to the union of Gordon and Sophia Hacker Hibbard.

He was a retired heavy equipment operator, he was a member of the Horse Creek Baptist Church, a deacon and Sunday School Teacher and RA Director, a past Southeast Kentucky Brotherhood Director, a Gideon, a member of the Disaster Relief, DAV, lifetime member of the VFW #7606, a Veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Army, and a member of the Clay Masonic Lodge 798.

He is survived by his wife of over 62 years: Ruby Lois Gregory Hibbard of Hima, his daughters: Marilyn Hacker and her husband: Billy of Hima, and Denva Smith and her husband Larry of Manchester, these grandchildren: Carla Lewis, Billy Ryan Hacker, Brice Smith, and Bailey Smith and these great grandsons: Cameron Lewis, Corey Lewis, and James Ryan Hacker.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Gordon and Sophia Hibbard, his brothers: Cecil Hibbard and Walter Hibbard, his sister: Mabel Edwards, and his daughter: Margaret Joan Hibbard.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to either the Denvis Rush Scholarship Fund at the Clear Creek Baptist Bible College, Gideon’s International, or the American Cancer Society.

Funeral Services for Mr. Carl Hibbard will be conducted on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 2 PM at the Horse Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Anthony Lovett, Rev. Scottie Sumner, and Bro. Gary Gregory will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Wood Hacker Cemetery in the Sidell Community.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 4, after 6 PM at the Horse Creek Baptist Church.
