Mr. Calvin C. Hacker, age 76 of South Highway 11 in Manchester, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was born June 9, 1935 in Clay County, Kentucky to the union of Letcher and Nettie Mills Hacker. He was employed by the Rocket Coal Company, a Truck Driver for Hacker Logging, Co-Owner with his brother-in-law and business partner: Orville “Dobber” Smith in Hacker and Smith Trucking Company, and Co-Owner with his nephew and business partner: Kenny Smith in Buzzard View Stables. He attended the New Home Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife: Alma Smith Hacker, his siblings: Geraldine “Boots" Smith of Blue Hole, Kentucky, and Christina H. Bowling and her husband Cecil of Louisville, Kentucky. Also surviving to mourn his passing is a vast extended family including his nephews and nieces: Kenny Smith, Kristi Garrison, Darlene Hart, Alma Finley, Harold Finley, Leslie Mudd, and Sherri Crowe, his great nephews and great nieces: Misty Head, Summer Finley, Jason Mudd, Tiffany Sharpe, Carley Crowe, Dalia Smith Harr, Molly Smith, Annabelle Smith, Peyton Garrison, and Chaney Garrison, and his great great niece: Bristol Head. Also surviving are his side kicks: Eddie Wagers and Chester Corum and his beloved pets: Dottie and Shorty.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Letcher and Nettie Hacker, and his siblings: Norma Hacker and Charles Lowell Hacker.

Funeral Services for Mr. Calvin C. Hacker will be conducted on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 1 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rusty Roberts, Rev. Ronnie Brown, and Rev. Darrell Bargo will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Engine Cemetery in the Blue Hole Community.

Visitation will be Friday, March 16, after 6 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.

Rominger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
