Homecoming Celebration: Mary Lou Phillips was born September 12, 1939 from the union of Benjamin Sizemore and Marjorie Brumley Sizemore. Her marriage to Kenneth Carl Phillips resulted in three children: Carla Marie, Benny Micheal, and Elizabeth Eileen. She lost her son, Benny Micheal, at the age of 6 months, and later at the young age of 27 lost her beloved husband. Mary Lou was left with two young daughters to raise alone. After the death of her son and husband, Mary Lou attended Sue Bennett College where she received a degree in social work. Mary Lou was employed by several different organizations in her life time including: Hatchers Grocery, Quality Shop in Manchester, Kentucky Mountain Coal (weighing coal) and Kentucky Department of Human Services from where she later retired. After her retirement, she began working at John Hammonds Tax Service. Mary Lou had several talents and interests. She was an avid painter, crafter, caterer, and decorator. She was a very active participant and worker in her church, Manchester Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday School, helped with decorations of the sanctuary, fellowship hall, and much more. Mary Lou was very social and was a member of The Traipsing Women Red Hat Society of Manchester. She also loved to see the world and went on several Martin Bus Tours. She was a kind person; and loved everyone she met. Survived by two daughters: Carla Marie Phillips Neeley (wife of Jerry Neeley), Elizabeth Eileen Phillips Lipps (wife of Benny Lipps); Survived by three sisters: Geneva Faye Sizemore Melton (wife of Tommy Melton), Adna Jean Sizemore Howard (wife of Mike Howard), Betty Ann Sizemore Ledford (wife of Wayne Ledford); Survived by four grandchildren: Kenneth Whayne Neeley, Christina Ruth Lipps Cobb, Jerrid Randall Neeley, Joshua Pherman Lipps; Survived by two great grandchildren: Isabella and Kylie Cobb. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Manchester Presbyterian Church in care of Wanda Marcum, 239 Wayne Street, Manchester, KY 40962. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 11:00 A. M. at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tess Lipps, Rev. Ricky Gibson and Rev. George Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Gregory Cemetery in the Hima Community. Visitation will be Sunday, August 18, 2013 after 6 P. M. at the Rominger Funeral Home.
