JoAnn Turner, beloved mother, loving grandmother, and loyal friend passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 28, being 75 years of age.
JoAnn was born on December 9, 1936 to the union of Dalton and Helen Brown Turner. She lived in the Burning Springs Community.
She was one of the great southern cooks that worked in the “mom and pop” restaurants of days gone by here in Manchester. She later went on the cook at the Clay County Jail where she also worked with juveniles under the late Homer Weaver.
She was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church, but later attended Grace Baptist Tabernacle in Burning Springs. When she fell ill several years ago, she became a prayer warrior. If you were her family, friend or is she heard you needed prayer, you can know she prayed for you.
JoAnn leaves surviving family members who will miss her very much. One daughter: Linda McDaniel Jackson and son-in-law Darrell Wayne Jackson whom she loved as her own son. One grandson: Chase Josiah Jackson who was the delight of her life, all from Burning Springs. Two sisters: Sandra (Roger) Mumford of Louisville, KY; Carol Jean (Jim) Moore of Burning Springs and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her infant daughter: Christy Jo; her parents: Dalton and Helen Turner; two sisters: Cecil Dean Turner and Pauline Philby, and these brothers: Ray, Ralph, Larry, Ronnie and Michael Turner and a special sister-in-law: Carlene Turner.
She will be buried beside her mother whom she missed so much all her life at the Macedonia Cemetery at Burning Springs. J. C. Stevens will be the pastor.
Funeral services for JoAnn Turner will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 1 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 31 after 6 PM at Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
