Jay Ruebin Mathis age 75 went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 30, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at the St. Joseph Hospital in London, Kentucky. He was born on Saturday, January 9, 1943 in Manchester, Kentucky to the union of Elby and Elsie Webb Mathis. He was a retired minister, worked as a low boy driver for Kentucky Stone and was a member of the Freedom Missionary Baptist Church.
He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife of over 53 years: Ella Sandlin Mathis as well as his son: Ronnie Jay Mathis and his wife Michelle. Also surviving are his granddaughters whom he loved and adored: TaLaura Jade Mathis and Kaylee Faith Mathis as well as his brothers and sisters: Buster Mathis, Susan Allen, Hughie Mathis, Abraham Mathis, Sally Casey and Pearl Mathis and a host of nieces and nephews other loved ones and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Elby and Elsie Mathis and his brothers and sisters: Steve Mathis, Raleigh Mathis, Sam Mathis, Charlie Mathis, Willie Mathis, Mae Sandlin, Hazel Westerfield and Edna Mathis.
A Celebration of life for Jay Ruebin Mathis will be conducted on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 1 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Billy Darrell Griffin, Rev. Carmen Brewer and Rev. Anthony Lovett will be presiding. Interment will follow in the Manchester Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening after 6 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Rominger Funeral Home.
