Gene Wayne Abner

Gene Wayne Abner, age 54 departed this life on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.  He was born on Wednesday, September 18, 1968 in Barbourville, KY to Oland and Laura (Philpot) Abner.  He loved fishing.  He loved playing games and some of his favorites were chess, checkers, playing cards and board games.

He leaves to mourn his passing his sister and brother:  Becki Abner Ferrell and David Glenn Abner and these nephews and nieces: Andrew Abner, who he loved as his own child, Brandon Abner, Dennis Abner, Chelsea Abner Evans, Kayla Abner Dezarn, Mitchell Scalf, Brian Abner, William Abner, Ashton Abner, and Mason Ferrell.

He is preceded in death by his parents:  Oland and Laura Abner; his sister:   Lisa Abner Edwards and these grandparents:  Johnny “Beerfield” Abner and Mallie Bundy Abner; Toleman and Sally Gibson Philpot.

Funeral Services for Gene Wayne Abner will be conducted on Monday, August 21, 2023 at 1 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.  He will be laid to rest in the Enjine Cemetery in the Blue Hole Community.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Monday after 12 PM until funeral time at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
