Claudia L. Smallwood

Claudia L. Smallwood, age 91 departed this life on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Corbin, Kentucky. She was born on Tuesday, April 11, 1933 in Manchester to Holt and Lillie Chadwell Jarvis. She was member of the Island Creek Missionary Baptist Church, a cook for the Clay County Board of Education, working at the Clay County High School and Manchester Elementary School, she also worked at the Caron Spinning Thread Company and loved her flowers dearly.

She leaves to mourn her passing her children: Linda Jewell Collins and husband Michael, Estill Wade Martin and Brenda Jean Saylor, her grandchildren: David Collins, Elizabeth Jean Collins, April Jolley and husband Curt, Russell Martin and wife Cindy and Steve Martin and wife Angela, 3 great grandchildren: Adyson Martin, Connor Martin and Callie Martin. Also surviving is her sister-in-law: Margaret Minton and a very special friend: Arnold Jarvis as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Holt and Lillie Jarvis, her husband: Junior Smallwood, her sister: Cledith Brewer and her husband: Steve, her son-in-law: Darrell Saylor, her brothers: Clyde Jarvis and his wife: Betty, Clarence Jarvis and his wife LouAnnie and Cloye Jarvis and his wife Thelma and these half-brothers: Charlie Lewis, Gill Lewis and his wife Ollie and William Lewis and his wife Lucy Lee.

Funeral Services for Claudia L. Smallwood will be conducted on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 2 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. William Hugh Hudson and Rev. Morris Thompson will be presiding. Burial will follow in the Chadwell Cemetery in the Pigeon Roost Community.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday after 12:30 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
