Charlotte Brown Hibbard, age 83, reached her ultimate goal of eternal life on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. She was the firstborn child of Don and Minnie Brown, and was the devoted wife to Herman Hibbard for 62 years. She is survived by: her children and loves of her life, Gregory Hibbard and wife Mary, Suzanne McKeehan and husband Mark; the following grandchildren: Jonathon (Meghan) Hibbard, Lisa (Seth) Anderson, Ethan (Brianna Owens) McKeehan, and Carson Mckeehan; the following great-grandchildren: Maya, Max, Nina, Braden, Liam, and Mary Kate; her brothers and sisters: Bobbie Jean Phillips, Donnie Brown, Donna Wantz (Steve), Debbie Thornburg, and Robert Brown (Leesa); and remaining Golden Girls: Joyce Woods and Carol Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Minnie Brown, and her husband, Herman Hibbard.
Charlotte taught in the Clay County School System for 30 years, touching the lives of thousands of children across the country, who often celebrate her as their favorite teacher. She loved to travel, visiting almost all of the United States, and several countries including Mexico, Canada, France, Italy, Greece, Japan, and Germany among others. She loved spending time with the Golden Girls traveling, shopping, eating, all with much laughter. Charlotte was known for her magnetic personality, sharp wit, and quick tongue. She brought the life to every party, and the light to every room.
Charlotte was a devout and outspoken Christian, and never passed up an opportunity to tell others about Jesus. She was a longstanding member of Horse Creek Baptist Church where she participated in many of the programs offered to children, which was her true calling. She was well loved and will be missed by many.
Services for Charlotte will be handled by Rominger Funeral Home and will take place at Horse Creek Baptist Church on Monday, January 8. Visitation will be 11:00-1:00, and the funeral will take place at 1:00 pm with Bro. Dustin Sims leading. Burial will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens.
