Mrs. Alma White, age 87 of Manchester departed this life on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the Advent Health Hospital. She was born on Wednesday, May 23, 1934 in Clay County, Kentucky to B. F. “Grapejuice” and Lydia (Valentine) White. She worked at the Department of Highways. She was a member of the Horse Creek Baptist Church.
She leaves to mourn her passing her son: James Phillips and his wife Leslie; her grandchildren: Shelby Ann, Allie Rose and Maggie James Phillips. Also surviving is her sister: Louise Marcum from Atlanta, Georgia.
She was saved at a revival at the Horse Creek Baptist Church in 1947 and baptized in the Horse Creek River under the Hima Bridge.
She is preceded in death by her parents: B. F. “Grapejuice” and Lydia (Valentine) White; her daughter: Paula Phillips; and these brothers and sisters: William Bryan White, Ben White, Pearl Glenn White, Mary Standafer, and Verda Harris.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Alma White will be conducted on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 2 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Scottie Sumner and Honorable Clint Harris will be officiating. She will be laid to rest in the White Cemetery in the Manchester Community.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday after 12 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
The family request mask be worn for visitation and funeral services.
